Building Beautiful: Bosco Ministries' Cultural Event

"Beauty will save the world."

- Dostoevsky

Almost every boy in our country will be exposed to pornography years before they ever experience a beautiful national park, listen to a beautiful piece of classical music, or gaze on a beautiful classical building. This is the norm and it is destroying the hearts of our men. Bosco Ministries is changing that by restoring the hearts of boys and men through formative experiences of the beauty of nature, architecture, music, and the beauty of Faith. Join us for Building Beautiful, a Bosco Ministries experience of beauty.

"Beauty will save the world." - Dostoevsky, The Idiot

Join architect Fr. Sam Florance, FSSP and cellist Dr. Larissa Fedoryka for an unforgettable evening of immersion in the beauty of music and architecture.

A Bosco Ministries initiative, Building Beautiful is unique evening program that supports a mission of restoring the hearts of boys and men to authentic masculine joy—a joy rooted in Christ, informed by beauty, and formed through virtue. It is an event that provides both an experience and understanding of beauty, while giving articulate expression to the truth contained in well-ordered sounds and spaces. In an age of confusion, collapse, and chaos, one truth remains: Beauty can restore what has been lost.

Presenting the beauty of proportion in architecture and music, architect Fr. Sam Florance (FSSP) and cellist Dr. Larissa Fedoryka will work together to give us an experience of seeing, hearing and understanding beauty.

A visual presentation of architectural beauty interspersed with musical commentary on the cello, this event will truly be a beautiful experience.

A generous underwriter is gifting this experience to you and so your $75.00 FREE ticket will give you access to:

A delicious three-course dinner

Artesian California wines

A professional program of music, poetry and architectural beauty.

Building Beautiful is not just an event. It is a movement, a movement to restore meaning to the lives of boys and men.

Please join us.

SOLD OUT! But you can come back on May 10th to join us for a livestream right here on this page!

Fr. Sam Florance, Priest and Architect

Before following a call to the priesthood, Fr. Sam Florance, FSSP, worked as a professional architect in Dallas, Texas. His time working and studying in the field of architecture pushed him to contemplate the beauty found in the created world, ultimately leading him to the priesthood. During seminary, his architectural knowledge found fruition in the rich philosophy and theology of the Catholic faith. Once a builder of buildings, he is now a builder of souls.

Fr. Florance graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s of Environmental Design and earned the Department of Architecture Celebration of Excellence Award. After earning his Bachelor’s degree, Fr. Florance obtained a Master’s of Architecture from the University of Kansas, earning the AIA Certificate of Merit for excellence in his studies at KU. During his time at University, Fr. Florance focused on the Design-Build method of architectural practice, gaining much hands-on construction experience. He also specialized in digital fabrication, using robotic fabrication equipment for design and construction.

After graduating from KU, Fr. Florance went to work for an Architecture and Construction firm in Dallas, Texas. During this time, Father worked toward his architecture license while discerning a vocation to the priesthood. Two weeks after completing the requirements for architectural licensure, Fr. Florance put in his notice at work and left for the seminary.

Fr. Florance attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary in Denton, Nebraska. His seminary education heavily emphasized Thomistic theology and Aristotelian philosophy. Father is a member of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, a society of apostolic life committed to traditional liturgy and community life of priests.

Dr. Larissa Fedoryka, Cellist

Larissa Fedoryka grew up performing with her family, The Fedoryka Family Ensemble, bringing her to venues such as the Kennedy Center and the Wolf Trap Family Festival. She received her Doctorate of Musical Arts in 2018 from the University of California Santa Barbara. While in California, she freelanced as a cellist, playing with local orchestras, recording as a session cellist and touring with Latin pop icons Marco Antonio Solis and Gloria Trevi. Most recently, she toured with Celtic-Americana band Scythian, holding down the back-line as cellist and electric bass guitarist. Currently residing in Front Royal, Virginia, Larissa is pursuing her Artist Diploma with Julian Schwarz at Shenandoah University, while building her cello studio and establishing her house concert series, "Painting with Music", as well as the Green Mantle Arts and Lecture Series.

Why are we doing this?

A fundraising initiative for Bosco Ministries building projects, Building Beautiful is crafted to engage our community in deep thought and experience of what Bosco Ministries is striving to do: restore the hearts of boys and men to authentic, masculine joy.

We are inviting you to build alongside us. Not only to build beautiful buildings but to build holy leaders in our families and in our churches, to build for a future of wisdom and love, a future of reverence, order and beauty.

At this event you will not only see beauty you will hear it, feel it and taste it through a beautiful presentation on sacred architecture, stirring cello music, the profound testimony of Bosco Ministries participants, and the fellowship of the El Paso community over a carefully crafted dinner and wines.

Bosco Ministries is striving to prevent the darkness of loss of faith and broken families by forming restoring the hearts of men to joyful strength. This begins by offering the hearts of the young an experience and vision of a beautiful, joyful, masculine life and mission. The world offers the allure of money, fame and status as the greatest goods we can pursue. Often our faith initiatives engage the mind, but not the heart and rarely the body. Bosco Ministries is striving to prevent ugliness from taking root in the hearts and families of our communities. We are inviting you to step into the breach and stop the invasion of the ugly. We are doing this by running programs that engage the whole heart of a boy, the whole nature of man. We are inviting you to join us in our mission to build beautiful: beautiful buildings and beautiful hearts.

This beauty is not a luxury. It’s a necessity.

Beauty teaches the soul to seek God. It orders the mind. It forms the heart. It prepares us for truth.

Bosco Ministries is building three beautiful buildings on 140-acre property (see here) in the Black Hills of South Dakota, about 15 miles from Mount Rushmore, to be a home for formation programs for boys and men. This event is in support of those building initiatives.

We are working with artists of faith and talent to design and build a beautiful space for the formation of men and boys on our Bosco Ministries programs. To see those programs and learn more about the mission of Bosco Ministries, visit our home page.

Join us for a beautiful evening.

Come. See. Listen. Build.
